Omega-3 link to AMD prevention confirmed by new analysis

Go fish.

That's all you need to do to help keep your eyes healthy and avoid age related macular degeneration (AMD).

In several e-Alerts I've told you about the link between a high intake of omega-3 fatty acids (especially from fish), and a reduced risk of AMD - the leading cause of blindness in people over the age of 55.

A new meta-analysis offers substantial confirmation of that link.

When researchers at Australia's University of Melbourne collected data from nine studies, they found that subjects who ate fish two times each week significantly reduced their risk of early AMD, and even the more advanced and dangerous "late" form of the disease. The UM analysis included nearly 89,000 subjects, more than 3,200 of whom had been diagnosed with AMD.

You can read more about the benefits of using omega-3 and four other key nutrients to prevent AMD in the e-Alert "Magic Time."
